Message from the President

We held our Annual General Meeting on April 5, 2005, and said goodbye to Board Member Mildred Ramsden, Director of Travel and Cafeteria. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we thank her for her valuable contribution and wish her well. We welcome our new Director of Administration and Secretary to the Board, Marion Duff. Our Board of Directors are committed to keeping the Centre running in an efficient and economically feasible way, and thank you for your contributions, be it as a volunteer, member or guest. As a non-profit organization, we need your assistance to stay within our budget restraints.

Our two previous "Tea with the President", with Sue and myself, have been very successful and we look forward to our third Tea on July 8, 2005. Remember, it is your Centre and we need your suggestions on what programs, bus trips and activities you wish to enjoy, so bring your ideas and your appetite!

Our Tree of Sharing is now in the lobby, and we need your help to keep this annual event "growing". Your purchase of a leaf is your commitment to the Centre and we welcome everyone to participate.

Shirley Corbett, President

4th Annual Tree of Sharing

Sharing Tree

Watch for our tree, located in the front lobby. It has started "growing" its leaves of support. Members and friends can purchase leaves anytime between April 22 and June 3, 2005.

Purchase a Bronze Leaf for $25, a Silver Leaf for $50, or a Gold Leaf for $75.

Each leaf will be embossed with the donor's name. This year, our goal is to fill the tree and riase $4,000.

We recognized our 125 volunteers and many sponsors on Friday, April 22, 2005. The event was a great success and one of the highlights was the presentation of our Long Term Service Awards. Congratulations to the volunteers who received their 10 Year and 5 Year awards. Your dedication and commitment to the Older Adult Centre is incredible. Last year, our volunteers contributed almost 21,000 hours of volunteer work. Thank you all so much!
