Why are good programs cancelled?

Our programs can only run as long as we have a minimum number of participants registered in them. Therefore, it is very important to register for programs at least a week before the programs start. Don't be disappointed, sign up early! In the event of severe weather, please contact the Centre at 905-615-3207. Please listen to the recorded message to ensure that your program will take plsace.

See 2012 Winter Brochure 16.5 MB for complete programs.

Message from the President and Executive Director:

This marks my first communiqué as your new Executive Director. I am so very pleased to be joining such a dynamic staff and volunteer team, taking over from Sue Hesjedahl, who so ably led the Centre for 17 years. I'm also overjoyed to be teaming up with your Centre President, Esther, to update you on what's in store for 2012!

Our upcoming schedule of activities is sure to delight, as it includes many old favourites and some new, exciting activities as well. Given the scope of activities, there is bound to be something of interest to intrigue everyone, as well as fun and familiar special events. 2012 Memberships go on sale December 1, 2011.

In January 2012, expect a modest $0.25 rise in our program fee per class in order to offset the increased costs of delivering programming. This rise will be our first in six years.

Now known as the Older Adult Centre - Mississauga West, our off-site location in Meadowvale is off to a great start. Ann and her volunteer team are busy serving the recreation and social needs of our members in northwestern Mississauga.

Your Board of Directors congratulates Laura for planning and implementing at short notice our first annual "Over 80s" celebration. On November 17, 2011, our auditorium was filled with joyful active members whose vitality overshadowed any signs of ageing and slowing down. Light refreshments were served and Phyllis Styles and Cam Wooledge provided entertainment with songs and whistling. V!VA Retirement Community generously provided a gift for each attendee. Thank you, Laura!

Please support our Annual Christmas Gift Wrap which is taking place in Square One from December 3 through December 24, 2011.

Over the next couple of months, I look forward to meeting you during your program classes and in the Centre's hallways. Please be sure to introduce yourself; I would dearly love to meet you!

Last, but certainly not least, our warmest wishes for the coming year,

~ Esther Williams, President

~ Linda Salb, Executive Director
